DEMOCRACY PROGRAM

Democracy Development Program is a special entity that is focused on democracy development processes and democracy as itself. In this program, priorities are following:

 a.       Interethnic relations

 b.       International Integration

 c.       Civil sector development and enhancement

 d.       Legal system adjustment to citizens' needs

 e.       Development of democratic processes

 f.        Rule of law

Regarding given priorities, Permaculture and Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will work on achievement of various objectives through various methods of work.

INTERETHNIC RELATIONS

In the framework of the first priority related to the interethnic relations, Permaculture and Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will work on realization of the following objectives:

-         to relax the relations and tensions between different ethnic communities

-         to overcome stereotypes and prejudices existing among communities

-         to ensure equitable representation of the ethnic communities and their integration in all the spheres of the public life

-         to achieve tolerance for the differences and dialog

-         to spread knowledge and understanding for different cultures, traditions and remarks

-         to promote and achieve equality among the citizens

-         to promote practice of the international and domestic provisions for the human rights and minority rights

-         to encourage cross border and international cooperation in the interest of the ethnic communities

-         to develop the communities and achieve balanced progress within the society

INTERNATIONAL INTEGRATION

Regarding the international integration, Permaculture and Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will work on realization of the following objectives:

-         to encourage processes for cooperation on international level

-         to promote practice of the positive international examples for societal development and their appropriate adjustment

-         to promote our own experiences to the international public

-         to promote and practice international standards

-         to advocate and lobby in the interest of the citizens on international level

CIVIC SECTOR DEVELOPMENT AND ENHANCEMENT

As an organization that joins human and material capacities from the field of civic sector, Permaculture and Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will work on enhancement and development of its own capacities and the general capacities of the civic sector. The objectives are:

-         to build the organizational capacities through development and enhancement of the knowledge, skills, experience, and capacities of the current and new human resources

-         to secure material resources and to promote and secure independent sustainability of the organization

-         to share resources and capacities with the rest of the civic sector through joint work

-         to share experience with the other organizations

-         to share experience regarding the civic sector on international level

Legal system adjustment to citizens' needs

In accordance with the citizens' needs and the society trends Permaculture and Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will strive to promote development and progress of the legal system and its adjustment to the current citizens' needs:

-         to assess the citizens' needs regarding the legal framework

-         to propose and advocate amendments and improvements of the legal system regarding the needs

-         to adjust the legal system to the international legal framework

-         to promote the legal system before the citizens

Development of democratic processes

Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will work on development of the democratic processes and trends and will promote democratic values and norms. For this priority there are the following objectives:

-         to promote the right of free choice and determination

-         to promote equality of the citizens regardless of their determinations and convictions

-         to encourage the citizens for active participation in the governance and decision making processes of their interest

RULE OF LAW

As a priority that is fundamental for achievement of the other priorities, Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program will make efforts for achievement of the rule of law. In this regard there are the following objectives:

-         to promote independence of the judicial system

-         to promote respect and application of the legal system by the citizens equally and in this direction to have fair and rightful punishment for disrespect of the law

-         to promote participatory approach as a measure for securing general acceptance of the legal principles and provisions

-         to promote, enhance and support the institutions responsible for the application of the law in the practice

-         to promote positive examples and best practices of cooperation

These objectives set up within the priorities of the Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, Democracy Program, are general and are introduced as directions for the work ot the organization. Their achievement will be ensured through their specification on annual and strategic level. They will serve as a basis for development of concrete programs, projects and activities that will be realized in order to achieve the objectives and the priorities.
