EXHIBITION FOR FAIR CONDITIONS FOR

WOMEN DRESSING EUROPE

 

Within the project Fair Conditions for women dressing Europe in October 2005 we organized street exhibitions in Shtip, Tetovo and Delcevo, debates and workshops with youth and women to promote international eight labour standards for garment workers guaranteed with the ILO Conventions.

 

At the exhibitions, citizens could see photos and comics were standards were presented, materials were distributed too.

 

The exhibitions were visited by media, citizens, workers, trade unions, labour inspectors, local self government representatives.

 

Each visitor had an opportunity to send postcard to one they according to their opinion can help to garment workers. Over 600 postcards were sent to institutions with aim to stand up for better working conditions for women –workers in garment industry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WEAVING WORKSHOP

Within the project "Building of regional centers for home-based workers" it is envisaged realization of workshops for women. In this context in the offices of the Permaculture and Peacebuilding Centre - Stip, on September 18 and 19, 2005, a weaving workshop was held on which women from Macedonia and Serbia that are doing this handcraft participated.

 

The aim of this workshop was sharing of ideas, knowledge and techniques for weaving among the women from the two countries. There were 8 women present, 3 of which from Serbia and 5 from Macedonia.

 

There were two looms and colored silk threads and purred wool by which the women made various designs and motives. 1 silk scarf was made in which various techniques of weaving were incorporated and there were various models of weaved scarves and curtains tried. 

 

The workshop was successful because different experiences, ideas, knowledge and interests in the context of weaving techniques were shared.

 

The workshop was presented at the local media, mostly TV stations.
